While we wait another few years to learn what really happened (Supreme Court in 2025/26), it's fair to say the North Shore WWTP has been a fiasco with tax payers footing the bill for a public asset that is still way off being delivered at a cost that is 7x intial bid.- Was appropriate due diligence done on the lowest bid? - Is low bid really the right procurement model to deliver value for money?- How capable are local clients in Canada to deal with global contractors? The lack of sophistication in Canadian clients renders them vulnerable to a mismatch with global players.#distressedproject #infrastrcuture #construction #majorprojects

NPE were engaged by Rockform Developments to provide a complete groundwater dewatering, water treatment & environmental monitoring solution to facilitate the construction of a 9-storey mixed use building overlaying a two-level basem*nt car park. The water treatment system needed to successfully remove PFAS, hydrocarbons, high levels of iron, dissolved metals, and other co-contaminants from the groundwater to nondetectable/ultra-low levels to achieve compliance requirements with Port Stephen Council, WaterNSW and NSW-EPA before discharge.Prior to equipment mobilisation and setup, NPE’s environmental & water treatment specialists conducted internal jar tests and column testing to obtain critical data for selecting, designing, and optimising the treatment train for effective and sustainable PFAS removal.NPE deployed its pumping, dewatering, power generation, groundwater treatment & environmental monitoring capability. Wellpoint dewatering was utilised to lower the water table to RL 4.4m. Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) & Mycelex’s PFAS removal technologies were employed to successfully remove PFAS below the detection limit. To date, at least 40 megalitres of PFAS-contaminated groundwater has been successfully treated. If you have any questions or require assistance with groundwater dewatering and water treatment, please do not hesitate to contact NPE. They have a team of experts ready to assist you with your needs.https://lnkd.in/eUvV4BF#groundwaterdewatering #watertreatment #environmentalmonitoring #PFASremoval #ironremoval #dissolvedmetalsremoval #cocontaminantsremoval #wellpointdewatering #NPE #RockformDevelopments #PortStephenCouncil #WaterNSW #sustainability

Earlier today, NJDEP announced a change in the Residential Soil Remediation Standard (R SRS) for lead for the ingestion-dermal pathway. The R SRS for lead has been reduced from 400 mg/kg to 200 mg/kg. A 6-month phase-in period applies, so the prior standard of 400 mg/kg can be elected by those who have submitted their Remedial Action Work Plan (RAWP) or Remedial Action Report (RAR) by 11/6/2024.For more information, refer to NJDEP’s Remediation Standards page or reach out to me discuss implication for closure or strategies for addressing lead in soil at sites where making the 11/6/2024 phase-in cutoff is not viable.https://lnkd.in/e8ddX_Et

Do you know that if you extract more than ten cubic meters of groundwater for industrial purposes, obtaining a CGWA NOC or a No Objection Certificate from the Central Groundwater Authority is mandatory?
