How to Get to Dragon Pit

From the Pillar Path Waypoint site of grace, head south up the hill and then take the lower path to the right through the destroyed statues and pillars. If it’s your first time passing through, you’ll be invaded by a red phantom - Ancient Dragon-Man.

After vanquishing the invader, head to the very far end of the path and you’ll reach a cave entrance. Head down inside the cave and you’ll reach the site of grace.

Dragon's Pit Walkthrough

Past the site of grace, you’ll see a skeletal humanoid across the room below you. Though you can take the path that wraps along the wall to your right, you’re better off inching to the ledge and looking down so you can drop onto, and surprise attack, a smaller skeletal enemy directly beneath you. If you’re careful, you’ll be able to take out the smaller enemy without aggroing the larger one.

A rule of thumb with these enemies which appear throughout this dungeon is that they will break apart upon death, but then eventually reform. As such, stay near each one as you defeat them and as their ribcage begins to glow white, strike it once more to kill it permanently.

After dealing with the larger enemy, you can go down to the southwest to loot a corpse for x6 Smithing Stone 1. As you head further into the dungeon, another dual-wielding skeletal enemy will ambush you from the right, so be careful to avoid it as it jumps at you.

Continuing down the tunnel ahead, you’ll emerge into a large cavernous room. Walk along the path to the left and you’ll confront another larger skeletal enemy with a crossbow wielder at the back of the room.

As you approach the lootable corpse in the room, two skeletal enemies will emerge from the ground, so quickly whittle away at them as they get up to prevent being tag-teamed, and you can then loot the corpse for a Shadow Realm Rune 2.

From where you defeated the crossbow-wielder, head down the tunnel to the left and you’ll emerge in a room with numerous skeletal enemies on a set of steps.

After defeating them, you can either go up or down. If you go up, you’ll squeeze through a tunnel and confront a large drake creature capable of spewing lava that wields a giant cleaving sword.

To progress and complete the dungeon, you’ll need to go down the steps. You’ll reach the bottom of the cavernous room you overlooked minutes prior. Though there doesn’t look like a place to progress, you’ll actually need to leap into the abyss and after falling for a few seconds you’ll land in front of a fog wall.

Before proceeding through it, you’ll find a corpse you can loot for a Furlcalling Finger Remedy.

Boss Fight - Ancient Dragon-Man

The Ancient Dragon-Man is a physical iteration of the phantom you’ll have encountered outside the dungeon. He uses a large sword imbued with bleed to slash and swipe at you, and can also summon a magical dragon and drake head to perform a number of attacks.

In terms of regular sword attacks, the Ancient Dragon-Man is quite agile but performs its slashes and stabs relatively slow and deliberately compared to other sword fighters in the game. This includes a jumping vertical slam with its sword that you’ll be very familiar with from various other enemies.

Both versions of its bleed attack involve jumping into the air; one attack is a rather fast simple slash downward, whilst the other will see the Ancient Dragon-Man hang in the air for a second or two as the sword charges with energy, and the same slash downward will send of vertical wave of energy in your direction that can easily one-shot you if you don’t get out of the way.

Ancient Dragon-Man can summon a magical head above him and can perform two attacks with it. The first is a lunging grab attack in which the dragon head will rear back slightly before lunging forward and snapping its jaws shut. To avoid this, you’re best to dodge roll backward in a straight line as the dragon head prepares itself.

The other attack sees the drake head spitting out a ball of fire that explodes on contact and leaves a persisting AoE lava pool on the ground for a short time. It should be easy to avoid the projectile itself, so it’s just about keeping the lava in mind and avoiding it until it dissipates.

Keep in mind that the Ancient Dragon-Man has access to 1 healing flask.

  • Rewards:
    • Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana
    • 130,000 Runes

Upon defeating the Ancient Dragon-Man, you can use the wispy strand to teleport back to the entrance of the cave, but you can also push through the doors to the south and proceed through the tunnel to reach the Dragon’s Pit Terminus site of grace. You can push onwards and head up a rocky slope outside to reach the Foot of the Jagged Peak.
