How do you make Graduation Mason Jars?

Making graduation mason jars are SO easy and you thankfully only need just a few supplies which I’ve included below.

Supplies Needed:

What size mason jar works best for graduation cap mason jars?

You can use any size mason jar for these graduation jars, but I personally recommend using wide mouth pint mason jars like these.

Depending on what you put in your jars, wide mouth jars are going to be a lot easier to fill and will be easier for your graduate to reach down into.

Alternatively, you can use regular mason jars like these.

What do you give kids for graduation in their graduation cap mason jars?

When it comes to these graduation mason jars, the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to filling them.

The obvious choice is of course money or the grad’s favorite candy, but I encourage you to really personalize your gift for the recipient and their own personal interests.

Here’s just a few other fun and special ideas:

Can I Use These as Mason Jar Graduation Centerpieces?

Yes! These would look so cute as centerpieces at any graduation party, and of course the graduates/guests can then take them home as a fun party favor!

DIY Graduation Cap Mason Jar – Step 3:

For added security I tied this off twice.

FAQs

One of the easiest ways to make a big, colorful impact without ruining the original graduation cap is to use scrapbooking paper as a base. This is an especially useful strategy for those who rent their cap and gown and need to return them afterward.

Does modge podge work on mason jars? ›

As for the rings around the top of the mason jar, the modge podge does tend to get a little thick there, but once it dries completely, this will just translate to deeper color in these areas, which I think looks really pretty.

You can construct your own graduation cap out of poster board, construction paper, and hot glue. To make the cap, fold the construction paper in half lengthwise and roll it into a cylinder; add a square-shaped piece of poster board on top. To attach the cardstock onto the cap, I used a Xacto knife to cut a "+" shape into the circle, then cut off the triangles so there was a diamond shape in the circle. I fit and adjusted the size of the diamond as much as possible to fit it onto the cap. Be careful about making cuts too big or you'll have a small hole.

How do you decorate a grad cap with glitter paper? ›

Step 1 Line all four sides of your graduation cap with adhesive tape. Step 2 Pour a line of glitter onto a sheet of palette paper. Lay one side of your graduation cap down into the glitter.
